Nice try. In Japan, once something has been done for three days, it is an ancient tradition and must be preserved. I, for example, am older than Japanese commercial whaling, but they will not stop because they have no cultural mechanism to stop anything except "gaiatsu."

Wow. Didn't expect how it'd all turn out to be in the end - for someone who's Korean & female, their intrinsic logic seems so nuanced that is obviously foreign: Like when these old men talk of Death, are they really saying that out of spiritual meaning or complete macho-egoism? Either way Nakamura's supposed demise tells of something. Whether it's Japan's reality, or if that actually do apply to other global areas as well. Weird & kind of chilling regardless, how even the cop chime in with the Yakuza's argument.

its stupid, because they are destroying the one thing that would stop foreign gangs invading, they dont have any codes of honour and are just all about making money and causing trouble and stuff. the yakuza keep things in check, and made sure that things like that didnt happen, i mean the only people that the yakuza were really harming....was the yakuza. they mostly fought with themselves, and civilian casualtys caught in the crossfire was barely none, or none at all. with the foreign gangs coming in, the civiallians will be the ones who suffer, and then theyll wish they hadnt destroyed the yakuza.

The Yakuza has always kept petty crimes in check. That is a major reason why crime rates are so low in Japan. And now that the Japanese government is cracking down on the Yakuza, I'm sure we'll see a rise in petty and violent crimes in Japan. The Yakuza kept petty crimes away from the streets because it affected their businesses and profits. Now other gangs will form to take the place of the Yakuza. Ones that do not abide by a code of honour. It's a shame really that this is happening. The Yakuza are organizations that have been around since the era of samurais. This is why the Yakuza have always held themselves to higher standard and abid by a code. Their discipline and structure will not exist in the other gangs that are going to take their place. Japan will regret getting rid of them then.

I feel bad for the ex-Yakuza that was taken out over an argument. He will find that without the backing, his former contacts and business relations will not do business with him in the same manner, if at all. Like a decapitated chicken... he may wonder around thinking he can still eat, yet not realizing his old way of life is already dead. Striking first and hard is the way of a warrior. No second guessing, just action when standing upon principal. However the ability to compromise and show compassion even at the moment of the strike is what defines a leader of warriors. It is sad to see such a warrior hang up his Tachi, unwillingly and suffer the reporcussions.

Yakuza - leaves I think it will get worse for japan with foreign crime and no rules to operate in ,(chaos) I think America wants to move in with china. SOME rules are appropriate but human civil right's rules against them are facist. even animals get medical care and a place to stay. I think the society may lose long term. even I want my area clean. no one is perfect BUT IF WE WORK TOGETHER IT CAN BETTER

I know this is blatant propaganda, but the behavior of the Oyabuns seems in line with what I have been told from friends regarding how business is practiced in Japan still. The upper management of most companies are very old, and they have no desire to change the methods or approaches in which they do business, and still follow old strict social rules that hold them back. I've been informed that it isn't uncommon to attend a business meeting where no one will speak because the boss is unwilling to make changes or hear any talk of business practices, but will still call the meeting, so everyone sits in silence for the total time of the meeting, which could be half the day. Japan is in a weird place developmentally, they have one of the if not the oldest populations on earth which still controls most everything to this day, yet the society continues to advance around them while they cloister themselves from change.
